Makalu Trek offers a one of a kind trekking adventure in to the world’s fifth highest summit Mount Makalu of 8483meters. The trekking adventure starts with a 35 minute picturesque flight past the Mount Everest and Mount Makalu to the town of Tumlingtar over the Arun River.
From here the Makalu trekking trail goes through the remote and undeveloped Makalu Barun Buffer Zone where terraced fields encompass numerous delightful traditional villages before entering the Makalu-Barun National Park.
The Makalu region as seen from the high elevation has the perspectives of Mount Kanchenjunga in the east and Mount Makalu along with Mount Everest seen in the west. The rhododendron and pine backwoods resided in the the Barun River Valley which are home to deer, monkeys and other wild animals. The region is occupied with Blue sheep along with snow leopards. The beautiful Yangle Kharka has a remarkable waterfall and these high trekking trails are traveled frequented by groups of brushing yaks caravans dominated by amazing Himalayas of Yaupa and the Chamlang Himal along the Tibetan outskirt.
A rest and acclimatization day at Shershong offers two potential destinations which are Makalu Base Camp on northwest and Swiss Base Camp both on the banks of the BarunPokhari. The travelers traverse up the slants in upper east of the campground of Peak 3 Base Camp dominated by spectacular perspectives of Mount Makalu along with Mount Everest, Lhotse and Lhotse Shar in the eastern side.
